Elias Glass, Inc. - Hand Blown Glass Globe RETURN TO PREVIOUS PAGE
Jewelry & Accessories
Each glass piece has been hand blown using
techniques developed thousands of years ago. The glass is heated in a furnace to
approximately 2000 degrees. A blowpipe is dipped into the pool of melted glass
repeatedly. The hot glass is then rolled over bits of colored glass which fuse
together from the intense heat, and is shaped, inflated and reheated many times
until the desired form is achieved. The piece is then cooled slowly over several
hours in an annealing oven. Each piece is unique with variations in patterning
and surface quality unlike any other.
