Bernard Katz Glass - Avelino in Venetian Red

    Sale: $2,300.00
    Qty :
In his Sculptural Series, Bernard Katz combines magnificent color combinations and wonderful flowing forms reminiscent of forms found in nature to create a very contemporary piece of art. In this series, Bernard Katz carves away the brilliant outer layer of glass and sandblasts the inner layer, giving each piece a beautiful flow of soft translucent glass into brilliant colors the form created.

Bernard designs and executes each piece himself, combining modern equipment and ancient techniques. His shapes are created by hand, blowing the molten glass into his 3 dimensional shapes which then become a canvas of glass onto which the final imagery will be etched.

The artwork of Bernard Katz is featured in the following books: Contemporary Glass: Color, Light & Form and Object Lessons: Beauty and Meaning in Art by Guild Publishing.

    Approximately 27" x 13" x 5" - All Sizes Approximate. Colors May Vary.

Gartner/Blade glass is the work of Danielle Blade & Stephen Gartner. Business partners since 1995, Danielle and Stephen combine their individual ideas, techniques, and experiences to create original works in blown and sculpted glass. Over the past decade they have been developing a series of pieces that explores their interpretation of objects of ritual and worship. The inspiration for these pieces is rooted in nature and begins with their mutual fascination with the use of found objects in the rituals of primitive cultures. In these pieces they hope to convey a reverence for and an understanding of the value of our natural resources.

Natural elements such as bone, antlers, wood, vines, fossils and rock formations have inspired their signature designs which include covered vessels and sculptural objects. Their work combines traditional hand blown techniques with innovative color application and original sculpting techniques
    .
Prior to opening their own studio both Stephen and Danielle studied with prominent American and European glass artist. Both worked as glasshouse gaffers and glassblowing instructors.
